WWE 2K14 is a wrestling video game developed by Yuke's and Visual Concepts. It promises to deliver an authentic wrestling experience with a wide range of gameplay modes and a roster of over 80 wrestlers. While the game does have its moments of fun and excitement, it also suffers from several issues that hold it back from greatness.

One of the biggest strengths of WWE 2K14 is its roster. With over 80 playable wrestlers, including superstars from past and present eras, there is no shortage of variety. Whether you're a fan of legends like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, or current stars like John Cena and Roman Reigns, you'll find plenty of options to choose from. Each wrestler is meticulously modeled and their signature moves are faithfully recreated, adding to the authenticity of the experience.

In terms of gameplay modes, WWE 2K14 offers a mix of single-player and multiplayer options. The most notable mode is the 30 Years of WrestleMania, which allows players to relive iconic moments from the annual wrestling event. This mode is a nostalgia trip for long-time wrestling fans and is filled with unlockables and bonus content. There are also other modes like Exhibition, Universe, and Online, which offer different ways to enjoy the game.

However, despite these positives, WWE 2K14 is far from perfect. One of the biggest issues with the game is its clunky controls. Performing moves and executing strikes can feel unresponsive and cumbersome at times, leading to frustrating moments during matches. The AI can also be inconsistent, with opponents sometimes putting up a good fight and other times acting completely dumb.

Another area where WWE 2K14 falls short is in its graphics and presentation. While the wrestlers themselves look great, the arenas and crowds lack detail and can feel lifeless. The commentary is repetitive and lacks the excitement and energy of a live wrestling event. These shortcomings can take away from the immersion and overall enjoyment of the game.

Furthermore, WWE 2K14 doesn't offer much innovation compared to its predecessors. The gameplay mechanics and modes feel largely similar to previous entries in the series, leading to a sense of déjà vu for long-time players. It would have been great to see some new features or improvements to make the game feel fresh and exciting.

Overall, WWE 2K14 is a mixed bag. It offers a solid roster of wrestlers and some enjoyable gameplay modes, but it is held back by clunky controls, lackluster graphics, and a lack of innovation. If you're a die-hard wrestling fan, you'll likely find some enjoyment in WWE 2K14, but casual players may be better off exploring other wrestling games on the market.
