A Golden Wake is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Grundislav Games and published by Wadjet Eye Games. Set in the 1920s, the game follows the story of Alfie Banks, a real estate agent trying to make it big in the booming city of Miami. While the premise sounds promising, A Golden Wake falls short in many areas.

One of the biggest issues with the game is its lackluster gameplay. The puzzles are uninspired and often feel like tedious chores rather than engaging challenges. The solutions are often obscure, requiring a lot of trial and error or resorting to a walkthrough. This takes away from the sense of accomplishment that should come with solving a puzzle.

Another disappointment is the lack of depth in the characters and story. While the game attempts to explore themes of greed, ambition, and the dark side of the American Dream, it fails to fully develop these ideas. The characters feel one-dimensional and their motivations are not well explained. As a result, it's hard to feel invested in the story or care about the fate of the characters.

The graphics and sound design in A Golden Wake are also underwhelming. The pixelated art style is charming at first, but it quickly becomes repetitive and lacks detail. The music and sound effects are forgettable and do little to enhance the atmosphere of the game.

On a positive note, the voice acting in A Golden Wake is well done. The voice actors bring a level of emotion and personality to the characters that is lacking in other aspects of the game. However, this alone is not enough to save the overall experience.

In conclusion, A Golden Wake is a disappointing adventure game that fails to deliver on its promises. The lackluster gameplay, shallow characters, and underwhelming graphics and sound design make it hard to recommend. If you're a fan of the genre, there are much better options out there. Rating: 4/10.
